This evolvement was not a by chance happening; it’s another one of those “instant success after 20 plus years of hard work stories by VIATEC (Victoria Advanced Technology Council) and the Vancouver Island Technology Park, a University of Victoria Enterprise.

This successful partnership between industry and education is an example to us all on what can be achieved. When we open our minds and work in unison instead isolation incredible things are possible and achievable.

We should also recognise the role of breweries and brew pubs that were mentioned (in passing) in the Times/Colonist article.
Craft breweries and brew pubs are now an integral part of the social life Vancouver Island. The story began with Swans and I certainly did my best to support them through their Extra Special Bitter, From there other breweries started and with them the evolution of the neighbourhood pub began, which totally changed the local drinking experience and enjoyment for all of us.
